How long does n8n keep my execution history?
n8n Cloud keeps execution history for 7 days (up to 2,500 executions) on Starter and 30 days (up to 25,000) on Pro; Enterprise has no time limit. Self-hosted n8n prunes executions older than 14 days or past 10,000 by default. Deleting a workflow deletes its executions. n8n has no CSV export, so keep a copy through its API. agentreceipt reads it on your computer.
Where your n8n history lives
- Every execution is in the Executions list, by workflow.[3]
- Insights (production executions, failures, time saved) keeps compacted data for up to a year where your plan has it.[5]
How long it lasts
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| n8n Cloud Starter | 7 days, up to 2,500 executions[1] |
| n8n Cloud Pro | 30 days, up to 25,000 executions[1] |
| n8n Cloud Enterprise | no time limit, up to 50,000 executions[1] |
| Self-hosted, default | 14 days (336 hours) or 10,000 executions, whichever comes first[2] |
| A deleted workflow | its executions are deleted with it[3] |
How to keep a copy
- Create an n8n API key in your instance's settings (the API is not available during the Cloud free trial).[4]
- Fetch your executions from GET /api/v1/executions (250 a page; follow nextCursor for more).[4]
- Self-hosted: n8n export:entities with --includeExecutionHistoryDataTables=true also writes them, as JSON.[6]
Save the latest 250 executions (set N8N_URL and N8N_API_KEY first):
$ curl -s -H "X-N8N-API-KEY: $N8N_API_KEY" "$N8N_URL/api/v1/executions?limit=250" > n8n-executions.json
Read them locally: runs and failures by workflow:
$ npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/agentreceipt n8n-executions.json
agentreceipt reads the API's (or n8n-cli's) executions JSON: each execution's workflow, time and status. n8n bills executions, which are counted. The list does not say what each node sent or deleted, so those read "not recorded".
npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/agentreceipt reads Claude Cowork's audit.jsonl files, Claude Code and Codex session logs, and any Zapier, Make or n8n export you name, on your computer, and prints the week by folder or project: sends, writes, deletes, approvals, failures, tokens and cost. A field a log does not hold reads "not recorded". No account, no network request, no LLM; it sends nothing. --pdf receipt.pdf writes a local, unsigned copy. Free and MIT licensed.

Not built yet. It would keep a copy of what your agents did outside the vendor, signed so a client or a boss can check it was not edited, and still there after a plan ends or a vendor closes: names, times and counts, never the text of your messages or files. If you would pay for it, say so with one click. The click is counted; nothing else is sent or stored.
