What your own month of Claude Code and Codex costs on every plan

npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/tokens-per-dollar prices your own last 30 days of Claude Code and Codex on every coding plan, and prints the cheapest, by how much, and the date of the last vendor change that moved the answer. Pricing pages tell you what a plan costs; this tells you what your month costs on it. It reads the token counts in the transcripts Claude Code and Codex already keep on your machine, prices them from the vendors' own dated prices, and sends nothing anywhere. Where a vendor does not publish an allowance as a number, it says so instead of guessing.

All of it: $137.28 a month, Claude Code on Copilot Max ² + Codex on ChatGPT Plus.
On one plan: Copilot Max, $151.96 (estimate ²).
Last vendor change that moved this answer: 1 Jun 2026, GitHub. Every Copilot plan billed in GitHub
AI credits, each token priced by model, replacing premium requests (which remain only on legacy
  annual plans).
Without it: Claude Code on Anthropic API + Codex on ChatGPT Plus, $261.93.
Latest change to a plan in it: 14 Sep 2026, Anthropic. The promotion ended: standard weekly limits
in Claude Code are 25% higher than before it, which is one sixth (about 17%) less than during it.
Announced: 14 Oct 2026, OpenAI. GPT-5.5 retires from Codex on all plans.

¹ Anthropic publishes Claude plan allowances only as multiples of Pro per 5-hour session, plus a
weekly limit shared with Claude on the web; past them, extra usage is billed at API rates. "from"
  is the fee alone.
² An estimate: Copilot keeps no local logs, so these are your Claude Code and Codex tokens at
GitHub's per-token rates; its agent would not use exactly these tokens. Included credits contain a
flex allotment GitHub says may change.
³ OpenAI does not state a price per credit for Plus or Pro; $0.04 is derived from its own figures
(2,500 credits for $100; 25 credits to the dollar on its Enterprise rate card).
Codex's readings are account-wide: Codex use on other machines and in the cloud counts in them.
Plan prices read 8 Oct 2026 from the vendors' pages; --json lists every source and date.
Synthetic history: the real output of npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/tokens-per-dollar demo on generated transcripts, not anyone's usage (as of 7 October 2026).

One question per page

What it reads, and what it sends

It reads token counts, model ids, timestamps and Codex's own limit readings from ~/.claude/projects and ~/.codex/sessions, and keeps counts, never text, in ~/.tokens-per-dollar. It prints counts, dollars, plan names and dates: never prompt or response text, file paths or project names. It makes no network request, has no telemetry and needs no account. The same answer is the seatledger_plan_compare tool on seatledger's MCP server.

Changelog: what the vendors changed, and when

Dates are the vendors' own. “As reported” means the press quoting the vendor, because the vendor's own post could not be read. Each entry says what changed, never why.

Run it on your own logs

On the machine where you use Claude Code or Codex:

$ npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/tokens-per-dollar

It reads the transcripts Claude Code and Codex keep on your machine, takes the token counts, and prices your last 30 days on every plan on this page. Free and MIT; it makes no network request and sends nothing. --json prints every price with its source and the date it was read.

For a team: seatledger keeps everyone's coding-agent ledger in one place and flags when the token rate moves. Free for up to 3 developers; email alerts on Team, $49 a month.
