Claude Code weekly limit changes

Since 14 September 2026, Claude Code's standard weekly limits are 25% higher than before the May promotion, and one sixth (about 17%) lower than during it: from 13 May 2026 to 13 September 2026 they were 50% higher. That is how Anthropic states it, in percentages. It publishes no weekly limit in tokens, hours or messages for any plan, so the change is the same fraction of an amount nobody outside Anthropic can see. What you can see is your own week: npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/tokens-per-dollar shows your busiest 5 hours and busiest week at API prices, which is what a plan's allowance has to hold.

The arithmetic

Take the weekly limit before the promotion as 100. During it, 150. Since 14 September 2026, 125. From 150 to 125 is a drop of 25, which is one sixth of 150 (16.7%); against the limit before May, it is a rise of a quarter. Both describe the same change.

What a weekly limit is on each plan

Every paid plan has a weekly limit that applies across all models and resets at a fixed time each week, on top of a 5-hour session allowance. Anthropic states plans only relative to Pro: Max 5x has 5 times Pro's per-session allowance, Max 20x 20 times, Team standard 1.25 times and Team premium 6.25 times. On Max and Team premium, Fable models can use up to half of the weekly limit; on Pro and Team standard they run on usage credits only. Usage past a limit can be paid for at API rates.

If the same work started hitting the limit sooner on a day that is not in this list, the change may be on your side or in the client: npx seatledger rates finds step changes in tokens per request and cache use in your own transcripts, with the date and client version where each starts.

Changelog: what the vendors changed, and when

Dates are the vendors' own. “As reported” means the press quoting the vendor, because the vendor's own post could not be read. Each entry says what changed, never why.

Run it on your own logs

On the machine where you use Claude Code or Codex:

$ npx --allow-git=root github:agentwares/tokens-per-dollar

It reads the transcripts Claude Code and Codex keep on your machine, takes the token counts, and prices your last 30 days on every plan on this page. Free and MIT; it makes no network request and sends nothing. --json prints every price with its source and the date it was read.

For a team: seatledger keeps everyone's coding-agent ledger in one place and flags when the token rate moves. Free for up to 3 developers; email alerts on Team, $49 a month.
